A Brief description of Srimathi - author of the Kannada short story - "Meshtru" (ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು)

The author of the Kannada short story - "Meshtru" (ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು) [previously posted here on this blog) is a lady, who though she was denied much formal education, achieved the following:

1. Became a polyglot knowing Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, English & German.

2. Being a voracious reader, she had read thousands of books in the above languages.

3. Her stories and essays were published in "Sudha" the premier Kannada magazine. Her other works including translations, original stories , essays and a novel were published in three volumes.

3. She could sing many well-known krithis of Carnatic music and play Hindustani classical music on the Sitar. She could also play the Electronic Keyboards as well.

4.  She had also won eight trophies in various sports, including Badminton, Table Tennis & Carrom.

6.  She had seen most masterpieces of world cinema, her favourite directors being Satyajit Ray, Girish Kasaravalli & Yasujiro Ozu.
