Great Actresses playing Cricket!

Two of the greatest actresses are showing playing cricket in two of their films, Julie Andrews in "Star!", (1968)  a biopic of the great Gertrude Lawrence & Audrey Hepburn in "Two for the road" (1967).

Julie Andrews, playing the Cockney Gertrude, plays in the lanes of London. After hitting an inept bowler hard, says appropriately "If that ball was a googly then I am a  Chinaman" (double meaning of a nationality &  a particular type of delivery in cricket.)

Audrey Hepburn on a car trip (hence the title "Two for the road) with her husband played by Albert Finney, bats on a beach to the bowling of Finney.

It has been a boon for the internet generation that both films didn't do well at the box office,  so they are available free online, delighting fans of the actresses & the sport of cricket.

Incidentally, it is a mystery as to why Audrey was not made a Dame like Julie Andrews, Elizabeth Taylor & even other lesser stars. If it was because her parents were Nazi sympathisers, she more than made up for it by working for the Resistance.
